Makule Soccer "Over-the-hill" League

Introduction:

My name is Victor Peters and I’m writing this letter to see if there is a serious interest in organizing a unique fun over 40, 45 or 50-soccer league. Sherri Ward is offering 2 slots for a total of 4 teams at 0830 and 1000 Sunday mornings. A possible format is to make a "C" division that would play two rounds with each other and one round against the "B" division. We are looking at collecting $60 per season per player. The money will be collected by the startup committee and paid to the Makule Soccer League on a team basis.

Volunteers needed for the following committees:

Startup: I need a few people to help collect information and contact retired old-timers that may be interested in playing in a true Makule Soccer Spirit. I am asking for quite a bit of information from each player so that we will be able to create a database that will serve as a resource for future tournaments and other events.

Rules: Based on information from Startup committee determines what would be the minimum age for the new division. Many players feel that 45 maybe more appropriate, but we do not know if there are enough players over that age to form a league.

Tournament: Based on information from the Startup committee we will be able to form teams in various over 40 age categories for tournaments in Hawaii. We will publish a Web-Site to try and attract teams from all over the world. We will use the information in the database to patronize businesses of Makule members when appropriate.

Entertainment: Finally, a committee to help organize over 40 social gathering, parties, etc.

Goals:

Start a league for players that want to compete on an equal age level. Hopefully this league will extend the joy of competing in soccer to a ripe old age. Please help by volunteering for a committee. Meetings will be held at the Waialae Soccer fields on Sunday mornings. Fill out and return the attached questionnaire in a timely matter so that we can be ready with four new teams by January 1999.
